Project Status

Project Status: The deck placement preperations are nearing completion. At the Tarrtown Road intersection, the roadway has been opened to unsignalized traffic. Minor work continues in West Kittanning.
Upcoming Work: For the week of September 1, 2008: Weather permitting, the following work will be performed: In West Kittanning, asphalt pavement may be placed on the remaining driveways. Traffic signal work will continue at the Linde Road and Pony Farm Road intersections with Butler Road with sign placement. Structure work will continue with form and reinforcement bar placement in the remaining retaining walls, and the bridge deck placement will begin. The first bridge deck placement is expected to be mid-week after the Holiday. Some structure work may progress seven (7) days per week, daylight to dark. Subgrade work, subbase placement and drainage work may take place between the new bridge and Citezen's Bridge. Walsh Construction does not expect to work on Labor Day or the day before. Walsh Construction and their subcontractors will be working on both sides throughout West Kittanning. This work will include minor work areas to perform curb backup, driveway adjustments and roadside activities as time permits. In Applewold Borough, asphalt sealing may conclude and final adjustments to the pipe outlet may take place.
Current Hauling Restrictions/Detour Information: SR 1038, Butler Road and SR 4025, Pine Hill Road will remain closed for construction from Tarrtown Road to a point near Fern Drive on Butler Road. A detour is in place for this detour and warning signs have been in place.
Future Hauling Restrictions/Detour Information: The temporary traffic signal at the Tarrtown Rd./ Allegheny Ave./ Butler Rd. intersection placed on Monday, May 5, 2008 was removed during the night of August 27, 2008.
SR 1038, Butler Road, is scheduled to remain closed for approximately six(6) months on the West Kittanning Hill. We would ask that local traffic use ONLY the posted detour and avoid Applewold.
Now that Allegheny Ave. in Applewald Borough is open to 2-way traffic we would continue to request that thru traffic use the posted detour.
West Kittanning businesses remain open and would like to welcome customers back as the portion of construction through the business district approaches completion.
